Antigua

10/13/2009 to 10/26/2009

Antigua, Guatemala

Sorry about that I have mentioned here so long any more. First, I'm a lazy dog, taking account of the full-day school is not too much happened and thirdly, the quality of Internet connection in Antigua is turnoff.

Antigua itself is a small city with more than 100 hotels and more than 50 Language schools. Accordingly, when you can see many tourists. From the mixture of the indigenous population, which in turn consists of various ethnic groups, and tourists created an international, youthful, peaceful corrugated flair that I like it.

The occasions of use, the origins of these occasions, the historical development and current co-existence of the ancient Mayan religion and Catholicism are discussed. Super.

Good Wordings On Cricket

look like a zombie without dying. Part 2: The Outfit.

Decent zombies of course are not only properly, sorry: in undead makeup, but they also fully gruftige clothes. In my search for inspiration, I found these helpful links: How to Look Like a Zombie describes the general approach and also holds provides helpful tips on how to make bad blood in maple syrup and food coloring. Another nice tutorial describes how to dressed as a zombie school girl . I think it's nice to give the costume more depth, by not attempting to represent just any zombie, but one who had a life before his undead life.

old clothes to use that look as if one could have been buried in them:
  • General tips in the tutorials. For men, we offer suits, women Greiten probably rather too long dresses.
  • alternative is also the subject zombie approach: you pick clothing that in any As typical of a professional group, decides eg for the zombie-heating engineer, doctor or the zombie the zombie nun.
  • Then: make clothes broken! Either way that looks old and worn out, or so that it looks as though trying to escape a zombie attack - and would have failed. ;-) So many small cracks, all the missing sleeves, more cuts - all in there.
  • dirt and muck: Zombies do not shower. At least I've never heard of it. Therefore they will in time always dirty, bloody, and generally repulsive. To get across, you can roll them in the clothes in the dirt, with fake (!) blood stains dripping onto costume or take shoe polish and other coloring things to help.
  • Shoes should remain exceptionally functional. After all, we want to dance. A bit of dirt to be enough.
:-) Anyway, I do in the next few days, the second-hand shops in and around Heidelberg uncertain, in search of old-looking, affordable clothes.

This is fun!

Thrill The World New York: The schedule

Is it really in less than seven days so far? Wow!

Since it's high time to put our schedule online. So everyone knows when goes.

22.00 Clock: The Crash Course beginnt in der Halle 03!

2.00 Uhr: Letzte Vorbereitungen!

Stehen die Kameras right? Do we have a connection to Ines, the world-coordinator of Thrill The World? Do we have enough light, good sound, square, we see all the creepy enough out? We are all entered in the lists?
Great, then it's time for ...

2.30 Clock: THRILL TIME!

IT IS TIME! At 2:30 clock the undead rise from their graves, shuffling erst. .. and then dance to Thriller! The world record attempt starts!

2.45 Clock: Checkout and world record ceremony in Hall 01!

In order to be counted for the world record, we must again make a signature. That's it But already! Done! We have a new world record, the world's largest synchronized Thriller dance! Yeaaahhh!
then triggers the event with the great option, in Hall 01 of our new world record to celebrate and to party, it crashes! :-)

Clever Things To Write In A Guest Book

look like a zombie without dying - Part 1: Make-up

Yes: With make-up can be perfectly camouflaged as a zombie, zombie quantities so as not to attract attention. Or, to properly dance to Thriller!

Here the long-promised Tutorials to zombie make-up!

yes I like the music in the background, the hat was of the Sims! ;-) Or a 60's cooking show. Very nice contrast! Very nice

is also this tutorial that calls himself "budget zombie". So definitely what a small budget, but also very effective!

Somehow I find very appealing the next tutorial. Something bloody than the other guides, but otherwise less-disgusting dead. I think is a matter of taste.

This is probably what experts:

Antigua, Guatemala

One of the two streets to Antigua is blocked by a landslide, so take I the longer but better-developed route. The newly expanded and is four lanes. It is, because of the many tight corners, but progress is with an average speed of 70 km / h, and Chimaltenango. There, I take the first exit to Antigua. For the distance of 30 km I need 90 minutes. Without the Gelaendereifen Waehren I did not come through. Steep up and down we went in tight turns on a 'road', which was partially washed away only describe as slopes of different nature somewhere in the terrain. I comfort myself with the fact that Cristobal Colombo 517 years ago today a little bit longer need to 'India' to achieve.

have arrived in Antigua, I found a language school with a family connection. Here I'll stay the next 2 weeks. Antigua is reputed to be a safe and peaceful city, which is in stark contrast to the presence of civil or halboeffentlicher, heavily armed security forces. So many publicly supported firearms as here, I have seen anywhere else. At 22:00 h dies life. Shops and restaurants close, a few bars compete for the visit of tourists. The Internet cafes to shut down. Good night.

Panajachel, Guatemala

I got it done! I am using public buses from 'Pana' to Chichicastenaco ('Chichi') down to me the Sunday market indogenen to view. The trip on the steep road engkurvigen was worth getting up early. The market-exotic-for me anyway. Unfortunately, people do not want to be photographed readily why must some interesting scenes remain stored in my head. Afternoon we went to the bus and colectivos (2 each time change) back to Pana.

@ Thomas, Camila & Roberto, thank you for the tip!

I will continue to Antigua. With the help of two nice Guatemalans I've towed my bike from the safe, but narrow corridor over high front door and curbs on the street. The assembly of the case and the other baggage had to wait wegens onset of the now heavy rain for a while. 6 hours later it's still raining. The nearby mountains are not visible. With the onset of darkness falls and the Power off, what upset anyone here. Unfortunately, there is now no internet connection more. By means of two boards I go Yami again into the hall. Panajachel, Guatemala. Elev. 1,450 m

The Staedtschen La Mesilla near the border for Mexico and Guatemala. Such a transit, I have never experienced. In Mesilla is market day, lined up across the border over a colorful wusseliger, all market stall to the other. For sheer excitement, the border stations are barely recognizable. The dealer and market-goers not to take care of before it. The Mexican border formalities went quite smoothly. The Guatemalan really well, I would have after the stations 'Vehicle Disinfection' (a man with a garden spray my bike has been wet, and in return etwas Geld bekommen) und 'Einreisebuero' nicht in dem Trubel doch glatt die Zollstation uebersehen, bei der ich die Einfuhrgenehmigung fuer Yami beantragen muss.

This city has a special flair. A colorful blend of indigenous peoples and 'revolutionaries'. The latter consist, as I called them with me-'aging hippy' in the look of the 68s and young men (oh dear, my blog already stuck in the grid zealous servant of the state) with the appearance of Jimmy Hendrix or Che Cuevara. Although here too there is a public smoking ban, the demonstrative smoking seems to belong to revolutionary behavior. The cigars smell good. In the case of hand-crafted music RELEVANT Bars and discussed passionate songs and drinking. Somehow the scene reminds me of 'our' time when we in music by Hannes Wader and Franz-Josef Degenhardt 'the world better'.

Catemaco, Los Tuxtlas, Mexico

The route was basically parallel to the Gulf of Mexico - schwuelwarm - in a swamp and lagoon. In the helmet there was a real Waschkuechenklima. 60kmh under the windows fogged from the inside. went 300 of the 400 km's over the toll road, relatively fast - topesfrei! - From a few sites with Moto Cross inlay apart, but even I enjoy now, thanks to ensure suitable tires. The other 100 km were 'Mexico-standard': villages, Topes, common, because hardly recognizable, but real, profound shock extinguisher. In parts, the road has only hole. This is not so bad that one sees at least.
